History

Based out of Philadelphia and founded in January of 2012, Funkadelphia is an independent music and arts publication. Through Funkadelphia you will find the freshest new funky beats and jams. Updated daily, Funkadelphia aims to keep you informed with new music, artist interviews, event coverages, exclusive material, and much more.

With a primary focus on the local scene, Funkadelphia strives to bring a stronger quality of music to your eardrums, while still investigating all the niches and corners of this beautifully peculiar city.

In March of 2014, Funkadelphia released its debut compilation, It's Always Sunny In Funkadelphia, as a free download, featuring 19 exclusive tracks (17 from Philadelphia based artists).

In 2014, Funkadelphia debuted its first Funky Town Stage at F.A.R.M. Music & Arts Festival in Vernon, NJ. The stage showcased primarily local talent from the tri-state area with guest headliners each night.

 

In the Fall of 2014, Funkadelphia began its first event series and expanded beyond just its news and journalism aspects.

Since, Funkadelphia has engaged itself in the Philadelphia music scene full force. While the Funkadelphia News page remains the sturdy core of the Funkadelphia movement, it has further extended to include street team promotion, artist management and public relations, event booking, stage management (festivals), and record label management (see Funkadelphia Recordings below).
 

Funkadelphia seeks to build and strengthen a sense of community in the Philadelphia music scene and all aspects of the art community in general. We seek to support all members of our community in their endeavors and not only encourage, but regularly participate in artistic collaboration.

Funkadelphia Recordings

Funkadelphia Recordings is a digital label founded by the Funkadelphia team on January 8th, 2015. The label is home to Funkadelphia's free compilation series, as well as solo releases from Funkadelphia affiliated artists.
